About me

While reading law at Ruprecht-Karls-University in Heidelberg, I also studied history (B.A.) there as well as European Studies: Ideas and Identities (MSc) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Having completed my legal clerkship, I initially worked at a law firm licensed to practice before the German Federal Court of Justice (BGH) for almost 5 years, while at the same time completing my doctoral thesis on antitrust law under Prof. Dr. Rupprecht Podszun at Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf. My doctoral thesis was awarded several prizes.

Before being appointed as a lawyer licensed to practice before the German Federal Court of Justice (BGH), I worked in Munich, first for the boutique antitrust law firm Buntscheck and then at the leading German IP law firm Hoffmann Eitle.

I am a certified specialist lawyer for intellectual property law (Fachanwalt für Gewerblicher Rechtsschutz) and have published several articles on antitrust law and patent law.

FAQs

What is the best way
to contact you?

Generally speaking, I recommend contacting me by telephone at +49 721 95273940 since queries can thus be clarified promptly. You can of course also contact me by e-mail at kanzlei@konrad-bgh.de.

What are the fees for your services?

An initial assessment by telephone or e-mail is always free of charge.

If you hire me, my fees are based on the German Act Governing Lawyers’ Fees (RVG). Only in rare cases - for example, where there is a clear discrepancy between the economic significance of the case and the amount of statutory fees - will it be necessary to enter into a separate fee agreement.

Can I hire you at an earlier stage of the proceedings?

I am happy to act as an advisor in the appeal proceedings. This can be particularly useful for the early assertion of procedural errors as these may otherwise be excluded from the proceedings before the Federal Court of Justice. Please do not hesitate to contact me in this respect.

How do you work together with the lawyers who previously handled the case?

Trust-based cooperation with the attorneys who previously handled the case is a matter of course for me. At the same time, I endeavour to present new approaches to resolving the case before the Federal Court of Justice and to broaden the perspective beyond the individual case at hand.

You will receive my draft brief well before the deadline expires, which leaves sufficient time for a joint discussion.

How long does it take for the German Federal Court of Justice (BGH) to hand down a judgment?

Proceedings at the third instance normally take between 12-18 months. In exceptional cases a judgment may be handed down at and earlier or at a later point in time.

Do you also act in proceedings for a leading decision (Leitentscheidungsverfahren) and in appeals on point of law following proceedings before a Commercial Court?

I am happy to act in proceedings for a leading decision and in appeals on points of law following proceedings before a Commercial Court.

In an appeal on points of law following proceedings before a Commercial Court, I may also represent you in English.
